Questions & answers

MyFitnessPal or AI Calorie Count: which works better in German?

MyFitnessPal’s Meal Scan and Voice Log need the app set to English. In AI Calorie Count, photo, text and voice logging work in German and English, from “Semmel” to “Topfengolatsche”.

Is the barcode scanner free in MyFitnessPal and AI Calorie Count?

At MyFitnessPal, the barcode scanner is part of Premium. In AI Calorie Count it is free: barcodes are matched against products sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, without AI.

Where do MyFitnessPal and AI Calorie Count store my diary?

Both apps need an account. MyFitnessPal keeps your diary in its cloud. AI Calorie Count uses your Apple or Google sign-in, keeps the diary on your device and lets you save a backup file.

Are photo estimates exact in MyFitnessPal or AI Calorie Count?

No. A photo can’t show hidden ingredients or exact weights, in either app. AI Calorie Count shows each detected food with its grams so you can correct it before saving.

Why do AI photo and text analysis cost money?

Every AI analysis has a running cost for us: your photo or text is sent through our server to OpenAI, and each request is billed to us. Because AI Calorie Count has no ads and no tracking, Premium covers that cost. Calorie tracking, food search, the barcode scanner and manual entries stay free.
